Seasonal camping area for the southern unit of the park, located near the Entrance Station. Three loops of sites in a dense oak-brush forest offer the usual amenities and can provide considerable privacy depending on your mode of camping. Busy for much of the year, practically deserted in winter, though one loop remains open year-round for those who don't mind the snow. Access to a number of trails, including paths to Tomichi Point and to Gunnison Point near the South Rim Visitor Center. No generators allowed and a seasonal water supply make proper planning and reasonable expectations essential.
Wonderful quiet campground. Brilliant stary nights.
Fantastic. Lots of space behind the sites is great for kids to play and explore. Toilets very well kept. Great escape from the summer heat. Water a bit scarce (only one faucet per loop, has to be trucked in).
Found it last minute for the 4th of July and loved it! Quiet and convenient. Not a whole lot of shade or big trees.. no where for good hammock hanging. Still would go back to see the canyon. Hiked Tomichi point. It was amazingly beautiful views but a very technical and challenging hike.
Beautiful. Astronomy program was out of sight!!! Watch out for angry does protecting fawns. Seriously, especially if you have a dog
